From the moment we arrived at   Albuquerque Int’l Airport, hired a car to drive the 26 miles / 20 mins. we enjoyed the trip.

There is a golf club and for quick snacks,  The Trading Post, a general store is complete with deli, drinks, 
and sundry items. You can play tennis and the Spa is an Award winning 16,000 square foot Tamaya Mist Spa and Salon featuring  12 treatment rooms and private courtyard.
They never forget the kids. Camp Hyatt® activities for kids are fun and families can go    Horseback riding, hot air ballooning and  enjoy the nature trail.

$249 dollars a night for the rate with breakfast but you can get an advance purchase rate as low as $186.15.   Unfortunately, there is a resort fee daily Resort Fee of $23 plus tax will be added to your rate and includes Internet, self parking, recreation facilities

The thing that I like most about the Hyatt Brand is that they offer “Respire by Hyatt” – Hypo-Allergenic Rooms, designed to provide a comfortable sleeping environment for all guests, especially allergy sufferers, like me. Though the dry climate in New Mexico is also allergy free for me. the Hypo Allergenic rooms cost a bit extra but are super clean.

In honor of the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebration, I recently visited Buckingham Palace. I don’t usually visit the tourist places anymore, though I often pass by the Palace. In the 1760’s King George the 3rd set the understated style of Buckingham. He thought that Buckingham house was too fancy, so he removed the ornate gates and the Neptune fountain but bought a lot of Italian paintings of Venice that can be viewed in the Palace.

I have to commend the Queen! The coronation of twenty six year-old Elizabeth II in 1953 began a remarkable reign that has seen war and peace, momentous cultural, social and political change. She has amazing stamina at age 86. When it came time to return to Buckingham Palace after a morning church service and receptions and luncheons in Westminster, the queen could have taken a covered carriage to protect her from the cold wind and rain. Instead, she rode in the open 1902 State Landau, waving and smiling. England will be proud to have the Royal family preside over the Olympics.

A Grand. historic, Beach Hotel and Spa

Wyndham Brand of Hotels have two luxury hotels in Galveston. The Tremont House, A Wyndham Grand Hotel and the Hotel Galvez. The Galvez is commemorating 100 years and I was fascinated to see all the wonderful old photos they have exhibited on the floor below the lobby. Men in their beige suits with bow-ties and straw Panama hats, look so dashing.

Solyndra was President Obama’s favorite Stimulus company before filing for bankruptcy and being raided by the FBI.

The historic Hotel Galvez & Spa, A Wyndham Grand Hotel in Galveston, Texas, gives you that grand, Old world, slow pace feeling the moment you step into the lobby. Starwood-W hotel designs are tranquil on South Beach

I loved the arty touches at the recently opened W Hotel Austin. The Bedouin style blue and red pillows made lounging around fun and relaxing but I wonder how long the white faux leather tables and chairs will last.

Some of the W hotels designs are surprisingly discreditable when you look at the bright kindergarten like colors. The W Austin has applied the bold colors more tastefully than the W San Diego CA. Though it is more luxurious and more adult than the Aloft branded hotels that are like teen dream hang outs.

Though, In my opinion the W Hotel that I enjoy best, is the W South Beach Miami because the contemporary luxury, is most appreciated when I’m on vacation, as palm trees sway to a salsa beat, nosh at the chic cozy Mr. Chow and Soleá, mingleing across six cool bars, lingering in the W Living Room, being pampered at Bliss Spa.All that cool is enjoyable. The hotel lounge named “the Living Room” is the perfect tranquil color for the beach blue with white.www.spg.com

Fashion is indeed an interesting part of W Hotels but most of the W Hotels that I have stayed at, would look nice with any furnishings because they are housed in modern, high ceiling buildings. Some of the W hotels make me think that they were designed by VERY young designers because they lack the harmony and luxury of beautiful pieces of solid furniture that you find at a Luxury Collection hotel or a Four Seasons.

HOTEL BRANDS ARE A WAY TO BE SURE OF WHAT YOU WILL GET 

When I travel, I like to stay at hotel chains because I know what to expect from each brand. Photos on the internet can be misleading. The TV show 20/20  showed how some hotels “photoshop” and airbrush pictures on their websites. You can’t even trust the star rating. (I’ve seen some 4 star rated hotels that should have a rating of one star but have not been downgraded from the 4 stars they got 20 years ago). Also, Most hotels around the world just award themselves stars. In Britain, hotels are rated from one star to five stars, as in many other countries, but the RAC pulled out of accommodation grading in 2008.  Michelin rated reviews are more reliable.Marriott rewards

Hotel chains like Marriott and Sheraton give hotels a category to rank the amount of luxury you can expect. -.Although that can also be misleading because some cities are just more expensive. For example;- a plain Marriott hotel (not a JW ) in NYC costs mega $$$ so it has a high category. The New York Marriott Marquis is a Marriott Rewards category: 8 and would cost 40,000 points to obtain a free night at this New York hotel or at the  Paris Marriott Hotel Champs-Elysees . Cat 8 is the highest Category offered by Marriott and Cat 1 is the least expensive in points or in dollars.

IHG Brand Logos

Holiday Inn’s brands (IHG) don’t use a category but they are generally true to their brand. The IHG hotels start at the high end top with the InterContinental Brand then continue in descending  order of price with Crowne Plaza, | Hotel Indigo, | Holiday Inn, | Staybridge Suites, | Candlewood Suites and Holiday Inn Express The Starwood Preferred Guest program allows you to redeem Starpoints for Free Night Awards from all seven  categories. A category one hotel would cost you about three or four thousand points whereas a cat 7 could cost up to 35,000 points for a free night and the dollar amount would be according to category too.
