World's Busiest Airport

Posted by Jean April 04, 2014 Categories: American Airlines

I've been avoiding Atlanta after being stuck there snowed in but it looks like a lot of other people are traveling through that airport! Atlanta is still the World's Busiest Airport. For the 16th consecutive year, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport retained its title as world's busiest airport in 2013, according to the Airports Council International.

Some 94.4 million passengers passed through Atlanta last year, which included a 4.1% increase in international passenger traffic over the previous year.

The airports top two carriers are Delta Air Lines (DAL) and Southwest (LUV).

Atlanta (ATL) total flights were 911,000 landings and takeoffs.Delta says they may buy up to 50 wide-body jets to update fleet. They are seeking offers from Boeing and Airbus for New Jets.

Slow ticketing lines, airport security...and a great meal? Food & Wine's Airport dining survival guide features the best places to eat and drink in airports and they put 2 at the top of the list.

1) Atlanta International Airport has a restaurant called “One Flew South” This eatery, features "Southern-national" cuisine and sushi, is Atlanta's first upscale Airport restaurant, with a menu created by chefs Todd Richards and Duane Nutter of The Oakroom at the Seelbach Hilton in Kentucky (Terminal E, near Gate G6).

2) Paschal's Restaurant They have a location in the city, selling a local line of batter mixes for fried chicken. Here is a true Southern Restaurant, proof of this is that the menu has classics; - like fried catfish, country-fried steak, and macaroni and cheese. You will find it at Concourse A food court and also in the Main Terminal Atrium.

Need more Starpoints to redeem an award? If you are short of a few points to get a free night at Sheraton Hotels, buy 1,000 Starpoints for $28 until June 30, 2011.Starwood brands
American airlines has  extended their offer to let you buy miles at a 20% Discount. This is good for AAdvantage members short of a few miles to get a free flight. You can buy 1,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles for $27.50. Purchase the miles that you may need to reach your flight award and save 20% when you purchase 20,000 miles , through May 31, 2011.
I don't think that it is cost effective to buy more points. It is only worth doing if you are short a few miles or points.
