Wyndham Brand of Hotels have two luxury hotels in Galveston. The Tremont House, A Wyndham Grand Hotel and the Hotel Galvez. The Galvez is commemorating 100 years and I was fascinated to see all the wonderful old photos they have exhibited on the floor below the lobby. Men in their beige suits with bow-ties and straw Panama hats, look so dashing.
Wyndham Worldwide, headquartered in Parsippany, N.J., employs approximately 25,000 employees globally. They are going Green big time! Wyndham Worldwide Corporate headquarters is purchasing 100% of its electrical energy from wind power and received the ConEdison Pioneer Award. Alternative energy Companies often don’t work. I hope that they don’t end up broke like Solar firm Solyndra after receiving a $535 million loan from the federal government. Solyndra was President Obama’s favorite Stimulus company before filing for bankruptcy and being raided by the FBI.

The historic Hotel Galvez & Spa, A Wyndham Grand Hotel in Galveston, Texas, gives you that grand, Old world, slow pace feeling the moment you step into the lobby. You see the magnificent gold leaf topped columns, a mahogany ceiling and period stenciling. These details are part of what earned this property the name, "Queen of the Gulf." In fact, the hotel is across the road from the magnificent Gulf of Mexico warm water. The sea water is sometimes even warmer than bath water. They have a Hot tub and heated pool for the winter, with a swim-up bar serving the best frozen Margaritas. When you're ready for a meal, Bernardo's Restaurant is open most of the time and you can order food at the Bar when Bernardo's is closed for an hour at 3 p.m. It is a great event location for a large or small professional gathering or stylish wedding.
I really enjoyed the Spa at the Hotel Galvez, from the moment that they handed me a glass of Champagne. They go beyond the ordinary "pampering experience" to provide a complete offering of services.
